This rise may be due to improved awareness, changes in diagnostic practices, or a real increase in cases—though the exact cause remains unclear. To better understand these trends, the CDC and Autism Speaks organized a workshop bringing together experts to explore possible factors and recommend research priorities. Their goal is to clarify why ASD prevalence is rising and improve support for affected individuals and families.
